Aidan Rogers is a Toronto-based artist and a current student at Western University, where he is finishing an Honours Specialization in Studio Arts. Born in Shanghai and raised in Canada, he has always been interested in visual art.
His work sits at the intersection of realism and contemporary abstraction. Most of his pieces begin with a rendered subject that evolves through layers of mixed media and heavy graphic mark-making. His signature motif is rhythmic, hand-drawn linework. These marks fill the art pieces he creates, adding energy and creating a more dynamic composition.
Aidan is inspired by the ornamental detail of Gustav Klimt and the raw, honest approaches of figures like David Choe. By blending control with expressive patterns, he creates work that is both serious and playful.
